Planetary - Pichia pastoris

In collaboration with Planetary SA, the general goal of this project was to develop a high-productivity methanol-reduced Pichia pastoris culture system to produce recombinant egg and milk proteins such as ovalbumin, and milk proteins, for example whey, gamma lactoglobulin, casein and others. The process involved optimising the upstream processing steps to enable a high biomass concentration, a carefully controlled medium feed system to optimize product induction and the reduction or elimination of the need for a costly production system under ATEX requirements. In addition, the downstream processing of the harvested proteins was optimized to enable cost-efficient purification of food-grade products.
