Bachelor in Architecture
Design the built environment as a sustainable living space for society. Architects make coherent conceptual and structural choices within a given context, taking into account cultural, historical, environmental, technical, economic, and social dimensions.
HEIA-FR’s Architecture program equips future architects with strong skills to create meaningful and lasting projects—ones that stand the test of time and serve the needs of communities.

Sustainability in practice
Transformation and sustainable construction are the two pillars of the Architecture program at HEIA-FR. The Bachelor’s degree and the Joint Master of Architecture Fribourg (JMA-FR) prepare students to design with quality and sustainability in mind, optimizing resource and energy use. This includes working with existing buildings, applying low-impact building technologies, and choosing the right materials in the right places—favoring reuse and sustainable resources. Imagine the housing of the future and become a responsible architect, equipped to meet today’s challenges!
)
Learning through experimentation
HEIA-FR’s PopUP workshop is a one-of-a-kind experimental space in Switzerland, where students build full-scale 1:1 prototypes. The model-making workshops are equipped with top-tier tools and facilities. Special emphasis is placed on interdisciplinarity, especially in construction, which is closely tied to architectural design projects.

Anchored in the real world
The program is deeply rooted in the realities of the profession: many instructors are renowned architects from across Switzerland. Thanks to its central location, HEIA-FR also offers a bilingual curriculum that explores both French- and German-speaking building cultures. The linguistic and intercultural skills students gain are a true asset for their future careers.
