As of December 1, 2020, Bruno Bürgisser becomes the new head of the Institute for Applied Research in Plastics Processing (iRAP).
With 20 years of industrial experience in plastics processing and 10 years of academic experience as a professor and project manager at the HEIA-FR, Mr. Bürgisser has carried out numerous innovation projects in the field of plastic injection.
He has thus worked on the development of injected plastic or ceramic products, the injection of highly filled polymers and the integration of functions by overmolding.
"My objective is to continue a close collaboration with the Swiss plastics industry in various forms. The institute has the skills and cutting-edge equipment for the complete realization of projects: from the idea to industrialization (form-materials-process). »
The iRAP institute will continue its close collaboration with the Swiss Plastics Cluster, the ChemTech institutes, iCoSys and the Competence Center for Plastics Innovation (PICC) of the HEIA-EN.
In view of the growing activities of the PICC, the former Director, Mr. Koopmans, will be able to fully dedicate himself to its expansion in Switzerland and Europe through interdisciplinary projects.
There is no doubt that iRAP will benefit from Mr. Bürgisser's experience, expertise and interpersonal skills to continue and expand its R&D activities.
