The BCC develops solutions for industry that address the present and future needs of our society.
Biopharmaceuticals
The BCC has an extensive network of contacts with the major biopharmaceutical companies in Switzerland, many of which are existing clients. The BCC has expertise in the field of bioprocessing (including upstream and downstream processing), GMP operation, and specialized subjects including monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and other protein therapeutics, gene therapy, medical implants, as well as antimicrobial resistance.
Industrial biotechnology
This research area focuses on the development of industrial-scalable bioprocesses with living microorganisms for the manufacturing of alternate energy sources, biomaterials and other high-added value products.
Food Biotechnology
This research area includes the use of microorganisms for the development of new food products.
