The School of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg (HEIA-FR), a member institution of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland (HES-SO), offers bilingual study programs at the BSc and MSc levels.
Mission and Scope of Activities
iPrint is a research institute for digital printing and coating with a clear focus on inkjet technology. With a team of over 30 people, iPrint offers applied research to national and international industry partners in inkjet applications such as digital printing, printing for electronics, biomedical printing, coating and additive manufacturing. iPrint is also the worldwide leader in practical inkjet training. We are looking for an experienced electronics engineer with FPGA programming experience capable of giving support to our research teams. The ideal candidate would have VHDL/Verilog FPGA programming experience acquired in industrial projects, and a good all-round understanding of analogue and power electronics (mostly DC-DC conversion), digital signal processing and image signal processing (Python, Matlab).
Main duties:
- FPGA module programming in VHDL and/or Verilog
- Test-bench programming and validation of FPGA modules and IP cores
- SoC and/or SoP programming
- Management of design file control tools
- Management of the automation of the design verification process
- Schematic capture, placing and routing
- Active contribution to electronics design reviews
- Python programming and Matlab scripting
- Willingness to learn and an interest in inkjet technology
- Testing design and ideas in the inkjet lab with real printing systems
Your profile
- MSc or PhD in EE or in a numerical scientific discipline, along with experience in industrial electronics development
- Digital hardware design
- HW/SW interface and system level thinking
- High-level logic synthesis
- Electronics design, from device physics to systems engineering
- Programming skills (Python, Matlab, C++, embedded)
- Interest in all aspects of electronics and strong scientific curiosity
- Teamwork skills and a good team spirit
Additional information
- Fixed-term employment contract: 2 years, with possibility of renewal
- Activity rate: 80-100%
